Abstract

Banks and investors are increasingly attentive to projects that implement environmental, social and governance guidelines, denoting a real concern for the present and the future. Thus, Green Bonds have been used as financial instruments to mobilize and encourage companies, promoting the stimulation of actions that directly benefit the environment. In 2020, with the worldwide spread of COVID-19 Pandemic, companies had their activities abruptly paralyzed, requiring new considerations, planning and conduct, to adapt to the imposed situation. The present study aims to discuss the Green Bonds market in the 2020 pandemic scenario and identify whether there was a regression, stagnation or strengthening of emissions. Methodologically, the article is structured through an extensive bibliographic survey based on reports and periodicals, with the objective of embracing the solidity of the market when confronted by the aggressiveness and prolongation of a virus that has affected the whole world. The results show a record Green Bonds promotion in 2020, in line with the path outlined in the Paris Agreement.
