Abstract

This article investigates how the principles of the Cittaslow movement can contribute to sustainable urban planning. Based on a narrative literature review, national and international publications were analyzed using keywords such as Cittaslow, Slow Movement, Slow Cities, and Design. The selection criteria prioritized studies that address the movement from an urban perspective. The results indicate that Cittaslow contributes to urban design by promoting practices that value the territory, such as the preservation of historical layouts, the use of local materials, and the encouragement of co-design. These strategies strengthen cultural identity and foster slower and more sustainable ways of inhabiting cities. It is concluded that the principles of Cittaslow offer relevant guidelines for urban design, especially when considering the relationship between design, territory, and sustainable lifestyle

Graduada em Design pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2021), Mestre em Design pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (2024). Atualmente é doutoranda na Universidade Federal do Paraná. Tem experiência na área de Desenho Industrial, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Slow Movement, Slow Living, Slow Design, Cittáslow, Mobilidade Urbana Ativa.

Professora do magistério superior da Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), atuando no curso de graduação de Design de Produto e no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Design (PPG-Design) como professora permanente. Realizou recentemente pós-doutorado na Chalmers University of Technology em Gotemburgo, na Suécia (2022-2023). Possui mestrado (2011) e doutorado (2019) em Design (PPGDesign - UFPR), especialização (2008) em Ergonomia na UFPR e graduação (2007) em Tecnologia em Design de Móveis pela Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR). É vinculada aos grupos de pesquisa de Teoria, história e crítica do design e atividades projetuais (UFPR) e Design Colaborativo e Cocriação (UFPR). Seus atuais interesses de pesquisa estão focados em design e cultura material, inovação social, design ativismo, design e cidades com foco na mobilidade urbana ativa, produção, circulação e uso de artefatos relacionados a cidades e mobilidade urbana. Atua como professora extensionista desde sua entrada na UFPR tendo sido coordenadora (2017-2023) do projeto de extensão Sensibilização para o uso da bicicleta como modal de transporte na UFPR, sendo atualmente vice-coordenadora do programa de extensão Ciclovida UFPR (2017-atual). Coordena a ação de extensão CoolabBici. Voluntária desde 2013 na rede Bike Anjo, acredita na transformação das cidades por meio do design.
