PLAYING AT CARING: GAMES AS DESIGN EXPERIMENTS IN BUILDING A BIOCENTRIC SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

The Maracanã territory, part of the Amazon region of Maranhão, faces intense land speculation that threatens the juçara (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) and1,the basis of the local economy (tourism and extractivism). This requires actions to strengthen the socio- environmental situation. We propose the concept of Biocentric Socio-Environmental Education, combined with Design, to co-create educational games based on the confluence of decolonizing pedagogies2 to stimulate reflections on territorial conservation. The initiative brought together academia, schools, and the local Environmental Council, using play as a dialogical tool to discuss the maintenance of life in the community
