Problematizations about the Gramscian theory of the State

Abstract

This article aims to expose and thematize the state theory created by the Italian political philosopher Antonio Gramsci and make a brief critical review of it. To this end, the first part outlines the foundations of Gramsci’s political theory and its key concepts such as hegemony and civil society. In a second stage, controversial points of Gramci’s work are problematised and debated in order to check the validity of his theory in relation to the challenges set to the legal-political understanding of contemporary capitalism.
