Abstract

The subject of this paper is the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Omar Al Bashir, President of Sudan. This article analyzes the historical factors that led to civil conflict in Sudan in order to explain why Omar Al Bashir was reported to the ICC. Then it discusses the Court's jurisdiction, assessing whether it has jurisdiction to issue the arrest warrant in this particular case. Finally, it studies the legal problems for the execution of the warrant. It is concluded that the outcome of the case may play a decisive role in the advancement of international criminal law.
