Abstract

In the contemporary academic scenario, there is a shortage of scientific journals that carry out publications by students of Basic Education. The main objective of this research was to build the state of knowledge regarding publications authored by elementary school students in the scientific journals Sobre Tudo do Colégio de Aplicação da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina and Cadernos do Aplicação do Colégio de Aplicação da Universidade do Rio Grande do Sul between the years 2016 and 2020. To carry out the investigation, the data collection strategy was the survey of student publications in selected journals, from the organization of elements such as: identification of the journal (name, year, volume and number), identification of students (educational level, school grade, Junior Scientific Initiation scholarship), co-author professors, type of text, abstract, general theme, objective, collection strategies data, main results and main final considerations. For data analysis, the analysis of selected content was used, based on the construction of graphs, tables and word clouds. The main results showed that the magazine with most publications is Sobre Tudo (76%). Just over half (53%) of the authors of publications in the two journals are Junior Scientific Initiation fellows. Regarding their texts, most of them (82%) are articles related in some way to the IC project, or written by scholarship holders or associated with school activities that included the SI. From the word clouds that showed the most recurrent expressions of the research stages, it was observed that several of the investigations inserted something related to the school environment. It was concluded, then, that the publications of elementary school students connect with the environment in which they are inserted, the object of investigation being the school itself or the subjects participating in the research, components of the school, such as students and teachers.
