ANALYSIS OF ROAD SAFETY IN WESTERN AMAZON
ANÁLISE DA SEGURANÇA VIÁRIA NA AMAZÔNIA OCIDENTAL
Keywords:
Road Safety, pedestrian and cyclist crossings , AmazoniaAbstract
A study of pedestrian and cyclist crossings on the BR-364 highway in the city of Vilhena/RO, in the interior of the state of Rondônia, known as the “Portal of the Amazon”, lacks urban planning. The BR-364 cuts through the city and serves as a land link between the other regions of the country. In addition, the highway divides the city center from the other neighborhoods, causing pedestrians and cyclists to risk their lives in an attempt to cross. The methodology involved bibliographical research and on-site data collection. After analyzing the information, it was found that a large number of cyclists make this daily journey, the vast majority of whom cross alongside motorcycles, cars and trailers. The study aims to contribute to the planning of road solutions in the municipality.
