Hair is an abundant natural material, which has great variation in physical aspects such as color and curliness. This fiber, generated in large quantities annually, is a waste that causes environmental problems, mainly due to the strangulation of the sewage system. In the 18th and 19th centuries, hair was used as a raw material for manufacturing objects, including jewelry. Subsequently, this practice was no longer common, relegating these artifacts to the dimension of bizarre and strange. Design acts as a transformer of the reality of materials, specifically of discarded ones, being able to attribute new values and potential to them. Therefore, this article aims to describe, analyze and document the tests, techniques used and results obtained in proposing a new way of using hair as a raw material in contemporary jewelry. Bases were proposed for the reuse and valorization of this material, demonstrating its technical feasibility and possibilities for product development. The project took place in the stages of bibliographic research on the topics involved; development of jewelry pieces that enabled the validation of the concepts presented and recording and reporting of the manufacturing process of the pieces.
