Abstract

Abstract: This experience report explains the results of a teaching project, applied annually, with 2nd year students ***, in 2022.  To promote the connections between the various trigonometric representations and some applications, including in technical areas, it is necessary to approach this subject using computational resources. The present project approached the study of trigonometric functions, especially sine and cosine, using applets, built on Geogebra software, as a support and to provide the interconnection of this knowledge with periodic phenomena, everyday life and applications in the technical area. Using technology, in the form of applets built in Geogebra, it was intended to answer the following question: Can a didactic sequence using Geogebra applets as a means to visualize multiple representations and properties of trigonometric functions, contribute to the learning of trigonometric knowledge, its application in everyday life and connection with technical areas? The goal was to expand the study of trigonometric functions sine and cosine, beyond the right triangle, using dynamic applets to facilitate the perception of properties in the various representations and everyday and technical applications. The project was developed with 33 students and was executed in two phases. The first was individual and the second in groups of 5 or 6 students.  The project helped the students to perceive the presence and application of trigonometric concepts in everyday and technical situations. The results indicated that the students better understood the trigonometric concepts. 100% of the groups performed the construction of the dynamic applets. 67% used trigonometric coordinate points (cos, sine) and 33% of the applets used the sine function as a motion generating element.
