Abstract

The Espírito Santo State Department of Education (Sedu) applied the Edutec Guide, a tool responsible for measuring the level of technological appropriation of the education network, from 2016 to 2022. Therefore, the intention of this article is to describe how managers of the Espírito Santo state public education network collaboratively developed the School Innovation and Technology Plan (PEIT) with their team, from a perspective of democratic construction. To this end, this text paid special attention to the “Vision” dimension of the PEIT, since it was the one that most lacked the democratic behavior of the manager. The development of the aforementioned Plan required that the points of attention from the previous year be compared with the current reality. From a methodological point of view, the article was guided by qualitative research principles, based on the precepts of documentary analysis, using reports from Sedu and the Center for Innovation in Brazilian Education (Cieb). The reflections showed that managing a school from an innovative and democratic perspective, at the time the Edutec Guide was applied, required a strategic vision from the leader, especially when the Vision Dimension was a priority, so that more effective actions could be planned, aiming to meet the needs and gaps observed in the school's activities.
