Dazaranha: o pertencimento, a preservação e o universo fantástico em seu álbum de estreia
Abstract
In this article, we seek to analyze musically, from the field of History and Music, three songs featured on the re-release of “Seja Bem-Vindo”, the debut album by the Florianópolis band Dazaranha, released in 2000. Unlike its original version released in 1996, this version contains, in addition to the ten initial tracks, five more bonus tracks. We identify the original sound of the band's early years, together with the lyrical approach to three specific aspects related to their time and the space in which they lived, which were some of the reasons for the band's identification with the city of Florianópolis and Santa Catarina Island itself. The aspects mentioned, present in excerpts of the lyrics of the songs on the album, are: the notion of belonging to the community; the preservation of Santa Catarina Island; and the mytho-magical theme of Florianópolis culture. Based on the methodology developed by Marcos Napolitano, the songs “Mário César”, “Shau Pais Baptiston” and “Galheta” were chosen for analysis. In addition to these, interviews, testimonies and periodicals were also used to help us tell this story, from the band's humble origins in the Saco Grande neighborhood, to the release and repercussion of the celebrated album. We conclude that the combination of these aspects was responsible for the band's immediate local success, later elevating them to the position of the greatest Santa Catarina band of all time.
