Camelodromos of Florianópolis: informality and marginalization in the public space

Abstract

The present article deals with the social politician process that resulted in the construction of two camelódromos in the city of Florianópolis in the decades of 1980 and 1990. It relates the national economic conjuncture, the informality of the ambulant commerce and the social discrimination that guide the rules about the occupation of urban spaces. It develops reflections from the analysis of journalistic substances and municipal legislation approved by the Chamber of Councilors of the city in this period.
