Abstract

In this paper, I address the relationship between philosophy and interdisciplinarity. I explore this relationship by presenting examples from the domains of engineering and sustainability. First, I establish a distinction between philosophy and science. In the second section, I present the idea of interdisciplinarity. In the third part, I demonstrate how technological advancement promoted by engineering promotes the obsolescence of our concepts, which forces us to return to philosophy. Finally, I’d like to show the necessary dialogue between the interdisciplinary domain of sustainability and the philosophical domain, in particular, ethics.
