A Construção da Esfera Política: a (in)visibilidade da mulher catarinense
Abstract
This article analyzes the trajectory of the first elected female mayor of Santa Catarina (1988) to reflect on the invisibility of women in Santa Catarina's politics. Interweaving concepts of the politics of presence and ideas (Phillips, 2001), gender representation (Biroli, 2010), and private/public sphere stereotypes (Pedro, 2000), I aim to demonstrate how the local political model reproduces 'welfare-oriented' views that confine women to caregiving roles. Based on Zandonadi’s testimony, the strategic use of 'feminine' agendas is identified, as well as the limitations this logic imposes on the development of structural policies.
