Between inauguration and fires
Analysis of photographs of Florianópolis (1956-1957)
Abstract
This study analyzes two historical photographs from the 1950s in Santa Catarina: the inauguration of the Biblioteca no Estreito and the fire at the Assembleia Legislativa. Using Boris Kossoy's methodology, the article explores how these images reflect the political and social context of the time, highlighting public figures and significant events. The analysis reveals how photographs not only document but also shape historical perception, emphasizing the importance of considering edits and omissions in the images. The study underscores photography as an essential tool for historical research and understanding past narratives.
