Abstract

During the 19th century, mythification constituted one of the procedures considered legitimate within the scope of the historical discipline, through adapted guidance in different ways across the national territory. The article is dedicated to such discussions, seeking to investigate the production of “figures” from Blumenau within the scope the symbolic occasion of the city's fiftieth anniversary, from the perspective of the book released in reference, called Commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Blumenau. 1850 – September 2nd - 1900. It can be seen that there was a strong investment in the model of the male, white and European hero; in a constant reference to the colonizer Hermann Blumenau, its main symbol.
