Abstract

Abstract: This article, grounded in the historiography of the presente time, aims to analyze the representations of woman in Belly Dance, using as source of research interviews conducted with four women from the academic community at UFSC, among professionals, practitioners, ex practitioners and non-practitioners. The analysis from the intended trajectory of Belly Dance, his arrival in Brazil, relating to the Orientalism of the nineteenth and twentieth century and the influence of a body design that influenced this dance.
