Abstract

When analyzing the entire exhibition context present at the National Museum of Immigration and Colonization - MNIC and layout of a mill mate in fragments exposed within a space of visitation Museum, this article aims to discuss the reasons that led the Museum to leave in the background the entire production of yerba mate, which transformed the economy of Joinville in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Thus, from its disposal museográfica the MNIC presents itself as a museum etnizado, discursively favoring the German-Brazilians.
