Abstract

The maintenance of authoritarian ideals in different temporalities is the main theme of this article. For that will be used as the primary source film Aleluia, Gretchen (1976) director Sylvio Back. The film traces the journey of a family of German immigrants who fled Nazi regime, seeking to reorganize his life in Brazil since his arrival in 1939 (in an inaccurate location of the south) to the contemporary period film production (1976). From authors such as Marc Ferro and Marcos Napolitano believes that the film as a historical source is always related to its own context, so the analysis of the maintenance of authoritarian ideals consisted in identifying the critical Brazilian military dictatorship through a specific period of history of the state of Santa Catarina, concluding that Aleluia, Gretchen more than a historical film is a work against the various forms of oppression.
