German immigration: notes on the relations between the religious and the settlers from the mid-nineteenth century in Santa Catarina

Abstract

The goal of this paper is to analyze briefly the action of a particular group of immigrants who had, throughout the social formation of colonies, considerable importance: the religious. Immersed in the lives of immigrants in the homeland, the religious right became necessaries to propose that the formation and / or unity communities. Upon being requested by settlers who inserted by lands now colonization areas in the process of immigration promoted, especially after 1850, these religious of the Christian faith were important to the settlers and the settlements, with regard to the implementation in the new land, as well as the maintenance of the precepts of religion Christian, in this case, protecting the people not to give in to superstitions outside the dogmas of the Church too.
