THE MEMORIAL DISPUTES AND THE REMINISCENCE OF THE DICTATORSHIP
the attack on the Memory and Truth Commission/UFSC
Abstract
This article intends to problematize archives and collections as components of memorial disputes from multiple perspectives. The issue here in vogue is personified in the figure of João David Ferreira Lima, the first rector of the Federal University of Santa Catarina and a figure exercising functions cooperating with the Civil-Military Dictatorship established in 1964. From the presentation of two antagonistic positions around Ferreira Lima, one presented by the UFSC Memory and Truth Commission and the other considered from the judicial process brought by the former rector's eldest son against the University, the places of memory and the narrative disputes that concern it in the public sphere will be discussed and private, as well as in the presence of the commonly agreed conventions.
