The Ideal Cinema in Itajai

Abstract

Cinema in Santa Catarina is less analised. It’s commom that some citys and its population don’t know their own cinematographic history. This communication objective is to explore the beginning of the cinema in Itajai City and its impact in the urban development as well. Moreover it provoques new studies and issues about the theme. The first movie theater in Itajai was the “Ideal” in 1909. “Novidades” and “O Pharol”, both newspapers that used to be printed in the city at that time are been used to corroborate this article with a few bibliography about the cinema in Santa Catarina.
