The participation of the province of Santa Catarina in the Farrapos War

Abstract

This article seeks to demonstrate the importance of the province of Santa Catarina in contain the advance of rebel troops of the Farrapos War coming from the province of Rio Grande de São Pedro. We approach the politics adopted that had as objective bar the Farroupilha advance and keep the rebels in the South province. Even with the proclamation of the Juliana Republic, the provincial government has adopted strategies to expel the rebels that came to facilitate the government's role in imperial peace agreements.
