Abstract

As many times reason of concern for the authorities, the black popular parties had been very present in Santa Catarina and Florianópolis. With its parties followed of dances for crown of Kings and Queens in honor of Nossa Senhora do Rosário. It means that in the Island of Desterro, the more modernized the city became more restrained and isolated was those party of the black popular catholicism. In 1930, with the arrival “Cacumbi of Capitan Amaro” in the Morro da Caixa, it has a new moment of religious celebration, however now with its symbols and styles modified for the impact of modernity.
