This article intends to situate the foundation of the National Colony Angelina, in 1860, within the context of discussion about the territorial occupation, the labor force question and even the construction of the Brazilian national State that took place during the 19th century, especially from its second half on. The choice for the foreign immigrant was not a ready concept but it was shaped after long periods of discussion, and the existence of a colony of “nationals” in one of the provinces that hosted so many foreign colonizers like Santa Catarina rises up questions on the geographical position and the intentions of the foundation of the aforementioned colony.Downloads
