THAT WHICH REMAINS, THAT WHICH PASSES THROUGH
Abstract
The photoperformance diptych "That which remains, that which passes through" (2025) unfolds from an artistic-conceptual investigation into archives and memory. The work proposes a reflection on ways of reinscribing presence in time, articulating affective and material traces of the artist's family history. The glass of a watch engraved with his great-grandmother's name, the scissors his great-grandfather used to cut his hair, and the 3x4 photographs of both are summoned as poetic devices, where the artistic gesture operates an archaeology of the intimate. These fragments, transposed into the "book of life" through a letter from the artist on a satin ribbon, establish a performative writing that intertwines body, memory, and image, an attempt to make the archive a space of passage, where the past continues to pulsate in the present.
