Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the methodological assumptions of philosophical hermeneutics, based on the proposal of Paul Ricoeur to graft the hermeneutical problem in the phenomenological method, by considering the distinction between interpretation as suspicious and as recovery of meaning. My first objective is to propose that this distinction be thought as an opposition between two philosophical method which dispute about the meaning of human actions and expressions, a psycho-genealogic, another phenomenological-hermeneutic; the second, to suggest that the phenomenological suspension is less fruitful than the genealogical suspicion for hermeneutics operation.
