Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

1) The manuscript should be typed in Times New Roman font 12 pt, 1.5-spaced, with justified layout, 3 cm margins and 2 cm indent at the beginning of each paragraph.

2) The total length of the manuscript should be between 15 and 18 pages, approximately.

3) The manuscript must include an abstract in the beginning, which must be copied in the appropriate field in the submission web page, followed by up to 5 keywords. (If the article’s language is not English, an English translation of the abstract and keywords must be provided.)

4) In the submission web page you must also inform the authors’ names and some biographical data (as academic degree, institutional affiliation and other relevant information; if you want, you can inform a web link to your CV). It’s important because only in the submission web page you will provide your name and other personal data.

5) Please do not include any author’s data in the manuscript file, neither in the text nor in the file’s properties.

6) The title of the article and the headings of the subsections should be left-aligned and follow the same typographical style of the main body. The subsections may be numbered (1, 1.1, 2, 2.1, etc.).

7) To indicate short quotations (up to three lines), enclose them within double quotation marks.

8) To indicate long quotations (more than three lines), place them in a free-standing block of text and omit quotation marks. The entire quote must be indented 2 cm from the left margin, single-spaced and use a font size of 10 pt.

9) Put the references in the text, using the ‘name, date’ system: (AUTHOR: date, page). All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references following the text of the manuscript in accordance with these templates:

AUTHOR. Title. Edition. City: Publisher’s name, year.

AUTHOR. Title of paper or chapter. In: AUTHOR. Title. Edition. City: Publisher’s name, year, page range.

10) Place footnotes in the end of each page, using a font size of 10 pt, single-space and justified layout.

11) Upload all the special fonts you have used in the manuscript in the fourth step of the submission process (Transferência de Documentos Suplementares / Uploading Supplementary Documents), or embed them in the text if your word processor provides this option.

12) If you want to upload additional material, please use the same option in the fourth step of the submission process (Transferência de Documentos Suplementares / Uploading Supplementary Documents).

13) If you are submitting a translation, the following documents must be uploaded in the fourth step of the submission process (Transferência de Documentos Suplementares / Uploading Supplementary Documents):

a) The written consent of the copyright-holder, expressly permitting the translator and the publication of the translation in PERI.

b) An electronic copy of the original text, in the original language, along with bibliographic references.

Dossiê: Filosofia da Violência

The Philosophy of Violence is an emerging field of systematic inquiry concerned with examining the nature of violence, the public legitimations of its use (along with the varied social responses it elicits), and its conceptual entanglements with related notions. While reflections on violence are present throughout the history of philosophy, it remains largely absent as a fully systematized and organically developed object of philosophical debate. This dossier seeks to contribute to the consolidation of this field by inviting the submission of essays that explore questions related to violence or to phenomena associated with it, from any theoretical framework and through historiographical analyses or problem-centered approaches.
