Abstract

The spirit of national identity was at the basis of teuto-Brazilians communities and the valuation of language was a way to cultivate the customs and traditions. During the Second World War when Brazil lived under the support of the New State regimen implanted from 1937 by Getúlio Vargas, these communities had been victims of a project nationalistic which proposed a unitary country and ignored the cultural plurality, endowed with one authoritarian and excluding politics. This article has as objective discuss the way the German immigrants, at Santa Catarina, were not being an example about the work which could be followed and became a danger for the nation.
