Abstract

Throughout the period of political opening in Brazil, many social movements had emerged, many of them with the support of the Catholic Church. Many militants had been formed politically in the Ecclesiastical Communities, amongst them we can cite some of the women who participate of the Peasant women´s movement. The present article aims to clarify the relations of this movement with the Ecclesiastical Communities of Base in the period. I remember that this organization , as well as the Church, is not homogeneous and had a dynamic in each region of the state. I will linger myself mostly in the west of Santa Catarina State, where the Peasant women´s movement emerges supported for the Church and the CEB.
