O Agronegócio: discurso, condições de emergência e impasses de uma hegemonia

Abstract

This article examines the conditions for the emergence of the political discourse and identity construction of agribusiness. Arising from the shifts brought about by conservative modernization, it outlines the key signifiers and discursive chains that form part of the hegemonic political project of Brazilian agrarian elites between the 1980s and 1990s. The reflections developed in this article contribute to research related to critique of agribusiness,drawing on post-Marxist discourse theory, and its articulation with political economy.
