Abstract

Currently, Brazilian public universities are facing a widespread crisis, both internally and externally, especially in Chemistry teacher training programs. Teachers who lack adequate knowledge on how to teach are responsible for "training" other teachers. These educators, disconnected from the political reality of underdevelopment and dependency in Latin America, supposedly prepare new teachers who, in reality, receive an extremely deficient education. The prevailing discourse in journals, seminars, and conferences revolves around active and/or alternative methodologies, combined with the diversification of teaching resources. However, this approach is purely superficial. These practices do not even scratch the surface of the educational crisis in Brazil and, similarly, are light-years away from any effective solution to overcome it.
