Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and it is not being reviewed for publication by any other journal; Otherwise, it should be justified in "Comments to the editor".
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format.
  • URLs for references should be informed.
  • The text is simple spaced; Uses a 12-point font; Uses italic instead of underlining (except URL addresses); the figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document in the form of attachments.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for Authors, on the “About” link.
  • In the case of submission to a peer-reviewed section (example: articles), the instructions  available in (link) assuring the double-blinded review process.
  • The submitted file does not contain the authors' credential required to ensure the double-blinded review.

Author Guidelines

Journal of Lean Systems publishes articles in Portuguese, Spanish or Englishrelated to Lean Systems and related areas. It is edited under the responsibility of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. The journal does not demand any fees for article submission or publication.



Norms for the Presentation of Articles

In order to submit the article for publication in Journal of Lean Systems, a complete copy must be sent, which must be original or previously disclosed in a restricted way, to be reviewed by the members of the Editorial Board.

Authors who wish to publish their work in Journal of Lean Systems must submit it by completing the electronic form available on the site at: Submission of Papers -> Submit Articles

Articles published in Journal of Lean Systems may be reproduced in whole or in part, providing the quotation source.

Regarding the procedures adopted for the approval of the articles by the Ethics Committee, it is pointed out that the editorial board of the journal determines as a guideline that the authors indicate in the article, in footnote, if the text is unpublished, if it was financed, if it is result of a master's thesis or doctoral thesis, if there are conflicts of interest and, in case of research with human beings, if it was approved by the Ethics Committee of the area, indicating the case number.

Format of scientific articles:

The articles should be sent to the Editor with the following characteristics:

Number of Words: between 6,000 and 10,000;
Text Editor: Word for Windows 6.0 or later (for ease of compatibility please use the .doc extension); and
Margins/Borders:
     - Top 3,37 cm;
     - Left 3 cm;
     - Right 2 cm;
     - Bottom 2 cm.

The first page of the article should contain:
- Title:
• Centralized;
• Only the first letter in upper case;
• All in bold;
• Size 14; and
• Followed by its English translation (articles written in English do not apply for that).
- Abstract:
• About 200 words;
• Simple spacing;
• Justified alignment;
• Containing objective field of study, method, results and conclusions; and
• Five key words maximum.
- Abstract in English:
• About 200 words;
• Simple spacing;
• Justified alignment;
• Containing field of study, objective, method, result and conclusions; and
• Five key words in English.
The submitted file should not contain the authors' credential required to ensure the double-blinded review.
Body Text:
• Paragraph: 1.27 cm
• Line spacing: 1.5 cm
• Alignment: Justified
• Source: Times New Roman, size 12
Graphic materials:
Appropriate quality graphics should be used, inserted in the text, properly identified by their serial number. If the submitted illustrations have already been published, mention the source and permission for reproduction. If they are by the author himself, the mention is not necessary.
• Figures:
   - They must be introduced (see Figure 3);
   - Figure Title and Source are located below it.
• Tables:
   - They must be introduced (see Table 2);
   - Table Title should come above the table;
   - Table Source is located below.

The references must be written according to the following instructions (APA format):

For Cases:

- They should be presented in A3 layout (297cm high × 420cm wide) and should be sent in word format, according to the model.

- They should contain: Name of the authors; Title; Problem / Causes; Current Situation Analysis; Tools Used for Solution; Action plan; Results obtained and Conclusions.

- Should be based on applied cases of lean practices in institutions or companies.
