Abstract
Dropping out of higher education courses is a common phenomenon that affects society as a whole. This reality is particularly evident for the Electrical Engineering course, which requires severe tuition even before entry, as well as arduous dedication on the part of the students. Taking these difficulties into account, the aim of this article is to review the main problems that result in students dropping out of Electrical Engineering, from the outset to retention policies, so that it is possible to reflect on feasible solutions that go from the individual to the collective level. Using various other works from the academic world, the main factors contributing to dropout are highlighted.
