Neste periódico, Cacupé – Revista de Textualidades Acadêmicas, inaugurado com a presente edição, Cacupé é um significante que aglutina (i) a contemporaneidade da cidade de Florianópolis, em seus conflitos e contrastes, (ii) as estórias da formação originária do território e tudo aquilo que, não obstante subsumido na instauração dessa mesma cidade, deixa marcas na cartografia urbana e litorânea, e (iii) os esforços de apropriação da palavra e do discurso – nesse caso, acadêmicos – na topologia específica das aulas de Produção Textual Acadêmica ofertada em diferentes cursos da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina.

Dropping out of higher education courses is a common phenomenon that affects society as a whole. This reality is particularly evident for the Electrical Engineering course, which requires severe tuition even before entry, as well as arduous dedication on the part of the students. Taking these difficulties into account, the aim of this article is to review the main problems that result in students dropping out of Electrical Engineering, from the outset to retention policies, so that it is possible to reflect on feasible solutions that go from the individual to the collective level. Using various other works from the academic world, the main factors contributing to dropout are highlighted. THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY AS AN AGENT FOR THE TRANSMISSION OF ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE

This article presents the results of a literature review which aimed to understand the importance of the impact of communication on the dissemination of organizational culture from the point of view of executive secretaries. Articles were selected and read in the areas of Executive Secretarial, Communication and Organizational Culture. Based on these readings, a relationship was made between the three themes and it was concluded that, due to the fact that the executive secretary is, in practice, working in various sectors of the organization and serving as an extension of top management, he/she serves as an important part of the dissemination of organizational culture. Thus, using assertive, non-violent communication seems to be the best way to achieve the goal of spreading the organizational culture.

THE FOREIGN POLICIES BY UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CURRENT IN THE BUSH DOCTRINE

The September 11 attack on the World Trade Centre was a milestone for geopolitics in the 21st century, being directly responsible for the emergence of the Bush Doctrine and consequently the War on Terror. This article will look at how the Middle East is seen as an enemy of the Western democracy, especially to North American interests. As researcher Amaral Batista Leite has shown, George Bush, through his speeches, created the Arab world with this terrorist persona, thus achieving a wide popular support for his War on Terror. The conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, fraught with controversy, are the consequences of the disastrous American foreign policy of the early 2000s. According to data collected by the UK's House of Commons, millions of refugees and people in a state of vulnerability are the direct consequences of the actions of Bush and his peers, reflecting in nowadays the precarious and delicate situation of the Arab people.

The Cold War was one of the most tense periods experienced by humanity, where the USA and the USSR, in an almost war-like atmosphere, had significant differences in various aspects, particularly in politics. The fear of a third world war prompted both countries to heavily invest in technologies that would establish them as the most powerful. Some of these innovations, initially developed for the military, eventually became crucial contributions to civilian life, such as the Global Positioning System (GPS), the internet, and other significant inventions. In terms of conflict, there were various forms of contention between the two nations at that time: arms and space race, cultural Cold War, among others. Alongside these conflicts emerged significant technological advancements. The aim of this study is to analyze and observe how technologies stemming from the Cold War impact the everyday lives of ordinary citizens.

PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER GENERATION

Through research into academic articles, this article describes the development of photovoltaic energy systems in Brazil as the main means of advancing the economy and sustainability. The study using graphs shows that the energy matrix is an important factor in the use of renewable energies in the country, which has a low number of solar panels, despite its great energy potential, given that the Brazilian territory has high solar irradiation values. Data analysis shows that the use of inverters has better results in terms of cost and energy quality. Finally, it can be concluded that there is a favorable environment for the use of solar energy, but the lack of investment and government interest is slowing down this process.

THE IMPORTANCE OF INTERNSHIPS IN THE TRAINING OF BILINGUAL EXECUTIVE SECRETARIES

The purpose of this article is to clarify the importance of extracurricular internships for students in their future professional training. To understand a little more about the obligations, examining the law that covers rights and duties. To demonstrate that through internships we can improve our skills, transforming them into more effective competences for the professional field. The study used a qualitative method, seeking information from existing databases. With key words that were relevant to the development of the research, it was observed that the internship, in addition to the experiences transmitted, has direct collaboration for insertion into the labour market. It was also identified that, based on the theoretical teaching proposed, the student is able to leave even better prepared for the labour market. The internship strengthens personal growth, forming a more competent professional by practising their skills, making their CV more qualified for the labour market.

V8 ENGINES AND THE CONSUMPTION PROBLEM

The article describes, using a literature review methodology, the history of the internal combustion engine, focusing on the V8 engine, its applications in the present and the future prospects for the engine. The intended objective was to better understand how it works and the reasons why it has had a major impact on the automotive industry and society over the decades. In this sense, articles were used that cover the timeline of the internal combustion engine, the factors that favored its rise, the evolution of the V8 engine, technical manuals on a specific V8 and others on the application of new technologies in production and study about it. Results show that, in relation to the emergence and profusion, the context was favorable to the famous engine. In terms of consumption, technologies that have emerged over time have favored its improvement and efficiency gains. Regarding the future, new technologies allow the construction of an engine with a block made of different materials with the aim of studying the impact on its efficiency and consumption. The study concludes that despite the demands for cleaner engines, the V8 is unlikely to disappear from the automotive scene, as it is well established in certain contexts and the industry continues to research ways to make it increasingly efficient.

GENDER INEQUALITY IN THE LABOR MARKET WITH EMPHASIS ON EXECUTIVE SECRETARIAT

The contemporary women are increasingly conquering their space in the workplace one day at a time, taking on leadership roles and combating negative gender stereotypes. However, despite the constant struggles and fights for their rights and visibility in their roles, the female gender still face obstacles imposed by a deeply sexist and patriarchal society. Through the bibliographic review of articles regarding the theme, this study aims to reflect on how these obstacles and challenges present themselves, in direct and indirect ways, in the daily lives of women in their workplaces and the role of companies in combating discrimination and gender inequality.

ALCOHOL USE AND ITS CONSEQUENCES AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

ABSTRACT: Objective: To analyze the consumption and abuse of alcohol and drugs among university students. Methods: Analysis and bibliographic review of various scientific articles in the field of study, as well as discussions and reviews of news and related articles. Results: A greater consumption of alcoholic beverages by adolescents and university students was revealed, leading to social consequences. Conclusion: The results of the research indicate and inform about the consumption and use of alcohol and drugs, among them the estimated age of users, the reality in which they find themselves, their consequences and aggravations. The most common consumables are cigarettes and beer.

THE DISSEMINATION OF STI AT UNIVERSITY PARTIES

The aim of this article was to analyze the causes of the high number of sexually transmitted infections spread among young university students, based on data collection and scientific studies, which revealed the reality that a low number of young people talk about sexuality in their homes and the significant increase in cases of syphilis in Florianópolis. The data analysis shows that young people are more likely to be contaminated by these diseases. The study concluded that young people are more prone to sexually transmitted infections due to the scarcity of sex education in schools, the early onset of active sexual life, lack of information about STIs, health vulnerability and lack of family communication on the subject.
