Abstract

The present research seeks to bring a comparative historical analysis between two important moments in Latin America in the 20th century: it is about the military coups that devastated Brazil and Chile. The first coup was consummated in March 1964, while the second took place in September 1973. In order to compare these two historical events with harmful consequences for the region, I use the Brazilian sociologist Ruy Mauro Marini, known within the Pensamento Brazilian Social as one of the formulators and exponents of the Marxist Theory of Dependence (TMD).
