Abstract

This article aims to analyze the influence of the writings of Mao Zedong and Ernesto Che Guevara on the work of Carlos Marighella. Based on the understanding that Cuba’s experience with Fidel Castro was responsible for inciting other revolutions in Latin America, the National Liberation Action can be interpreted as an offshoot of the foco theory in Brazil. On the other hand, the main work that influenced the political-military strategy conceived by Marighella can be associated with Mao Zedong’s doctrine of Protracted People's War. Marighella’s work as an original component and formulated based on the specificities of Brazilian reality is also considered. Based on reflections on the concept of revolutionary war and mobilizing the writings of the mentioned revolutionary leaders as its main sources, this work consists of a qualitative investigation with a descriptive nature. With that, the text is divided into four main sections. Regarding the results, this article aims to present conclusions of interest about initiatives that marked history, with an emphasis on the Latin American context.
