Abstract

This paper studies a contemporary female character in relation to Greek mythological heroines. The character is Claire Archer in Susan Glaspell’s 1921 play The Verge.

Avital Grubstein de Cykman, UFSC

Avital G. Cykman is a PhD candidate at the University of Santa Catarina. Her work about feminist postmodernism won first place in the graduate essay contest category in Margaret Atwood Society Awards. Other articles regarding gender, corporeality, anger and hurt, and parody have been published in Arthemis, and, twice, in A Ilha do Desterro. She is a fiction writer.
